Do you provide services to people in Brighton and Hove?

Whether you are a private business, voluntary sector organisation, or you work within a local authority department in the city, we would like to invite you to

The Learning Disability Together Network – Action Planning Event

  • Find out how your organisation can benefit from making its services more accessible for people with learning disabilities and become a more inclusive and responsible employer
  •  Contribute your ideas to this newly emerging network, which will work to provide greater choice, access and control for people with learning disabilities

The Learning Disability Together Network is an exciting new venture, funded by the Learning Disability Development Fund, and being developed by a partnership between Care Co-ops (a local social enterprise working within the Mental Health and Learning Disabilities fields) and Impetus (a local infrastructure organisation supporting the Voluntary and Community sector).

The network aims to bring together organisations, people, communities and stakeholders from all sectors and backgrounds to share best practice, ideas and information in order to develop and support greater choice, control, access and opportunities for people with learning disabilities living in Brighton and Hove.

Following a successful consultation in September we now aim to build upon the information collected, by developing a series of action plans which will shape the future strategic direction of the network.

Please join us on Monday 14 December between 9.30am and 12.30pm to help us achieve this aim.

During the morning there will be an opportunity to network with other local organisations and a choice of workshops for you to be involved in.

Workshop A               Employment
What is already happening and what needs to happen in Brighton and Hove to increase the number of employment opportunities for people with learning disabilities and also make them more accessible.

Workshop B               Pathways
Explore the current journeys between and within services for people with a learning disability and discuss how the network can be used to facilitate more effective pathways through collaborative working.

 Workshop C               Active Lives
Discuss the current provision and potential future development of services for people with learning disabilities in the city

Places are limited, so if you would like to attend then please complete the attached registration form, indicating a preference for the workshop you would like to join.

Please send the completed form to routeway@careco-ops.org.uk or fax it to 01273 687550

We will contact you by early December with further details and an event outline.

LDTNThe Learning Disability ‘Together’ Network Consultation Event

29th September 2009 – Brighton Town Hall – 9.30am – 12.30pm

Do you have ideas on how to make services in Brighton and Hove more accessible for people with learning disabilities?

Would you like to contribute to a network aimed at providing greater choice, control, access and opportunities for people with learning disabilities?

If the answer is Yes or you are interested in finding out more, then we would like to invite you to a Consultation Event at Brighton Town Hall on 29th September to share your views and offer your comments on the development of The Learning Disability ‘Together’ Network for Brighton and Hove.

Whether you are an organisation currently working with people within the learning disability community, or a company or organisation with no experience in this area we want to hear your views and opinions on how services and opportunities can be made more accessible to people with learning disabilities across the city.

This exciting new venture is being funded by the Learning Disability Development Fund: this is money the government gives to local authorities to help them implement the principles of Valuing People.  The Learning Disability ‘Together’ Network is being delivered in partnership between Care Co-ops and Impetus.

The network will bring together organisations, people, communities and stakeholders from all sectors and backgrounds to share best practice, ideas and information in order to develop and support greater choice, control, access and opportunities for people with Learning Disabilities living within Brighton and Hove.

Whilst the network will be aimed primarily at developing and delivering greater choice and access to opportunities with regard to work, skills, volunteering and employment opportunities,  we also hope that organisations from all sectors will come together to support greater access to sport and leisure activities across the city for all members of the learning disability community.

Please join us at Brighton Town Hall on the 29th September from 9.30am to 12.30pm, and help us to shape the future of The Learning Disability ‘Together’ Network – we look forward to seeing you!

Places are limited, so if you would like to attend then please complete the attached registration form and send it to Claire Smith at claire.smith@careco-ops.org.uk or fax 01273 687550.

We will contact you in September with further details and an event outline.

For more information, please contact Claire on 01273 685300.
